Charles' deportation has been temporarily halted - but we need to keep the pressure up.

Stop the deportation of Charles Atangana - 02/08/10

CHARLES Atangana is a member of the National Union of Journalists, based in the UK: but the Home Office plans to deport him on Monday 2 August to Cameroon.

The NUJ is are trying to explore every avenue to stop the deportation. Bit the legal process came to a grinding halt on 29 July when the appeal was thrown out.

Another journalist was killed in custody in Cameroon in April.

Charles Atangana is a well-respected journalist, specialising in economics and current affairs. He has lived in the UK since 2004. His journalistic activities forced him to flee Cameroon following harassment, detention by the régime and continuing threats against members of his family who have to remain in Cameroon.

The NUJ has called a protest at 1pm on Monday 2 August outside the UK Border Agency in Brand Street, Govan, Glasgow - map.
