Statistics coming your way

HOW CONFIDENT are you of reading and using statistics? Fi O'Cleirigh, LFB committee member, suggests we could run a mini training session at one of our Branch meetings.

Let us know if you'd be interested. Also, if you know of useful resources on statistics, please share them with LFB. For example, the European Health Journalism site www.europeanhealthjournalism.com has online resources in its Health Reporting Training archive, including "How to understand statistics" and "How to report opinion polls". You need to register to access these resources, but they're free.

Introductory films by Hans Rosling, The Joy of Statistics, are available from the Open University, which offers free study units such as Exploring data: see tinyurl.com/oujoyofstats. It's also worth signing up to Future Learn www.futurelearn.com for alerts about upcoming courses. Your committee looks forward to hearing from you.
