Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham Trades Council needs you!
A newly-established Trades Council for the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham seeks a delegate from NUJ London Freelance Branch. Candidates should live or both in one of those two boroughs, and should approach one of LFB's Branch Secretaries if they wish to stand for election as LFB's delegate.
There will be an election at June's Branch meeting on Monday 11 June: you don't have to be there in person to stand.
Trades Councils bring together unions (mostly public sector) to work and campaign around issues affecting working people in their local workplaces and communities, usually at borough level. It's important to send a delegate along to remind the trade union movement that journalists are trade unionists too.
NUJ LFB is already represented on Waltham Forest Trades Council (Branch Treasurer Jenny Vaughan is LFB's delegate there). LFB members can seek election as LFB's delegate on Trades Councils of boroughs in which they live or work. Because the NUJ has its headquarters in the borough of Camden, we can send a delegate to Camden's Trades Council, for example.
