THERE'S an inquiry by the Labour Party into the impact of covid-19 on BAME communities, to be led by Baroness Doreen Lawrence.

The number of deaths from coronavirus among ethnic minority communities has been disproportionate. All 14 of the doctors known to have died of coronavirus in the UK to date were from ethnic minority backgrounds.

NUJ London Freelance Branch expects to contribute to the inquiry. The deadline for submissions is 30 June. Submit to the inquiry by email: covidreview@labour.org.uk.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ, of which the NUJ is a part) has a survey on the impact of covid-19 on women journalists, with a deadline of 30 June 2020. It's here.

The NUJ's survey on covid-19 and its members showed that several female respondents in households with children found that tasks around home schooling during the lockdown tended to end up being theirs, leading in some cases to cancelled shifts.
