London Freelance Branch gives to union charity
THE NUJ'S CHARITY for members in need, NUJ Extra, is of course facing extra demand in this the plague year. And London Freelance Branch isn't spending the money it would normally lay out to hire rooms for physical meetings.
So the Committee proposed, and the Branch voted, to donate the money we would have spent on rooms to the charity. (Our income comes from a share of the subscriptions that Branch members pay to the NUJ.)
Further, the July meeting agreed to donate the same sum in August, when we wouldn't normally meet. This is all on top of a £100 per month standing order to the charity.
