NUJ Wales secures more covid cash for ‘sole traders’
NUJ WALES/CYMRU, working as part of the Wales TUC Cultural and Creative Group Sector Group, has succeeded in persuading the Welsh Government to increase discretionary payments to "sole traders" affected by covid. These were previously at a maximum of £500 and the ceiling has now been raised to £1000.
In contrast to England, the Welsh Government imposed additional covid restrictions shortly before Christmas 2021. This had an effect on the ability of some freelance journalists to do their work. Details of the improved package secured are here.
