In the EU? Pay the NUJ in euro

SOME UK banks have closed the accounts of their personal customers who are British nationals living in the EU post-Brexit. The NUJ's Membership Department warns members based in the EU that your membership may have been put at risk due to non-clearance of your monthly NUJ contributions – also known as subscriptions or "subs" for short.

Please let the Membership Department know if you've had any problems paying your NUJ membership contributions. If as a result of Brexity bank account closures you have had difficulty paying these contributions, you will need to set up a new direct debit into the NUJ's Republic of Ireland-based euro account.

The easiest way to do so is to call the main NUJ number and ask for Paul Goldstaub in Membership then supply the BIC or IBAN number for your account. You need to prepare to pay any arrears, or arrange a payment plan.
