George Viner Memorial Fund has bursaries for BAME journalism students

ONLY EIGHT per cent of the UK's journalists are from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, according to the latest National Council for the Training of Journalists figures. We need more BAME journalists.

The NUJ's George Viner Memorial Fund provides bursaries for young BAME journalism students to go on journalism courses, as well as providing help and support with subsistence and networking while studying. Scholars have the support of the Fund's trustees throughout their courses.

The deadline for applications for this year's George Viner bursaries is Friday 8 July. You can download an application form here.

Applicants will need to show evidence that they have already received a formal offer for a journalism course, which can be - for example - a degree, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent, or a postgraduate course.
