New members gather - still online for now
THERE'S A meeting for members new to London Freelance Branch - whether new to the NUJ or new to freelancing - on Thursday 28 July at 6pm on Zoom.
These meetings are a chance to get acquainted with other new members and to meet members of the LFB Committee, including some more experienced freelance journalists who can offer advice.
We email an invitation to everyone who's joined the branch in the last year. We also welcome NUJ members who missed earlier invitations or simply have a query with which the freelances assembled onscreen may be able to help. Anyone who wants to come should email membership co-secretary Mel Lambert at firstname.lastname@example.org and he'll respond in due course with the Zoom link. Please give Mel plenty of notice, as he's currently in a very different time zone to London.
The Branch had hoped that the July New Members' Meeting would be a face-to-face In Real Life event. None of our preferred venues were, however, available, and with volunteers from our Committee who arrange these meetings going on holiday it will have to be a "Zoomer" for now.
We hope that the next New Members' Meeting after this one - on 27 October will be a face-to-face gathering. New Members' Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every third month.
